Murphy, NC— In a sequence of events that could only be described as miraculous the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was able to call off the search for missing 2 year old Austin Frey having found him safe and alive.
Hundreds of individuals participated in a 15 hour search in an attempt to find Austin who had walked away from his residence chasing a family dog. At about 9:09 hours today, two of the search volunteers found Austin behind a residence a few hundred yards from where the family dog had been found on the previous day. Emergency Medical Services were called to where Austin had been found and as a precautionary measure, due to the extended exposure to the elements, transported him to Erlanger Hospital.
“It was through the dedicated, selfless devotion to helping others we were able to find Austin alive today,” Sheriff Lovin was overheard saying. “I want to thank the hundreds of folks who bonded together to bring about the best of all conclusions to a very serious situation. To know in our time of need we can band together various law enforcement agencies in northern Georgia, local rescue squads, volunteer fire departments, local/state law enforcement agencies, Emergency Medical Services, hundreds of local volunteers, and even receive offers of assistance as far away as Charlotte North Carolina, speaks to what makes Cherokee County such a great place to live.”
