MURPHY NORTH CAROLINA MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

Murphy, NC— A 38-year-old Murphy North Carolina man was arrested Wednesday on allegations of downloading and distributing child pornography.

Scot Earl Bull was booked on ten counts related to the possession and transmission of obscene material depicting minors. His bail was set at $75,000.

Bull was arrested at his home in Murphy, North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon after the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of Bull’s residence the previous day. The investigation began approximately three weeks earlier, when the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office became aware that child pornographic images were being downloaded and distributed from a computer linked to the residence. A forensic search of computers at the residence confirmed that child pornography was present on and being shared from a computer at Bull’s residence.

GOOD FRIDAY BRINGS WELCOME NEWS IN SEARCH FOR MISSING 2 YEAR OLD CHILD

Murphy, NC— In a sequence of events that could only be described as miraculous the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was able to call off the search for missing 2 year old Austin Frey having found him safe and alive.

Hundreds of individuals participated in a 15 hour search in an attempt to find Austin who had walked away from his residence chasing a family dog. At about 9:09 hours today, two of the search volunteers found Austin behind a residence a few hundred yards from where the family dog had been found on the previous day. Emergency Medical Services were called to where Austin had been found and as a precautionary measure, due to the extended exposure to the elements, transported him to Erlanger Hospital.

“It was through the dedicated, selfless devotion to helping others we were able to find Austin alive today,” Sheriff Lovin was overheard saying. “I want to thank the hundreds of folks who bonded together to bring about the best of all conclusions to a very serious situation. To know in our time of need we can band together various law enforcement agencies in northern Georgia, local rescue squads, volunteer fire departments, local/state law enforcement agencies, Emergency Medical Services, hundreds of local volunteers, and even receive offers of assistance as far away as Charlotte North Carolina, speaks to what makes Cherokee County such a great place to live.”

SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING 2 YEAR OLD IN CHEROKEE COUNTY NC

     Murphy, NC— Shortly after 6 pm on April 05, 2012 a search for 2 year old Austin Frey was commenced after it was reported that Austin had followed a family pet into the woods just below his residence.  The search for the missing toddler has been a combined effort of local rescue squads, volunteer fire departments, local law enforcement as well as law enforcement personnel from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol as well as law enforcement from Georgia. The search has included use of tracking K9 units from Georgia. Search teams have scoured the countryside where the toddler was last seen. All through the night volunteers have offered valuable assistance to join in the search for Austin.

     As the search continues this morning volunteers are encouraged to join in the effort to locate Austin. If you wish to provide assistance in the search please report to the Cherokee County Department of Social Services so that you assistance can be maximized to find Austin.

LOCAL SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR MAINTAINING A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

Murphy, NC— Loretta Lynn Townsend, a 38 year old Murphy North Carolina woman was arrested on a true bill of indictment handed down from the Cherokee County Grand Jury. The charge listed on the indictment was for a registered sex offender maintaining/creating a social networking site.

Townsend was released on a $5,000.00 unsecure bond. Townsend’s next scheduled court appearance is set for June 04, 2012.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR DISSEMINATION OF PORNOGRAPHY TO MINOR

Murphy, NC— Dillon Kyle Burnette, a 20 year old Andrews North Carolina man was arrested on four true bills of indictment handed down from the Cherokee County Grand Jury. The charges listed on the indictments were for dissemination of pornography to a minor.

Burnette is currently incarcerated in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $20,000.00 secure bond. Burnette’s next scheduled court appearance is set for June 04, 2012.

2 COUPLES ARRESTED AFTER STEALING 25K IN ITEMS FROM LOCAL BUSINESS

Murphy, NC— The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Murphy North Carolina investigated the reported theft of over $25,000.00 miscellaneous pipe fittings, cam locks, metal grates from a local business. Four local individuals were arrested for the theft of the items.

During the investigation information was discovered that four individuals had been stealing miscellaneous pipe fittings, cam locks, metal grates from a local business. Further information discovered during the investigation revealed that the same individuals that had stolen the items were selling them to local scrap dealers in and around Cherokee County North Carolina.

Vanessa “Vickie” Morrow Greene, Mitchell Wayne Ayers, Chad Everett Trull and Veronica Garcia were arrested based upon information investigators gained during the investigation. All four individuals were charged with numerous counts of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

Greene, Ayers and Garcia are currently out on secure bond while Trull remains detained in the Cherokee County Detention Center under a $20,000.00 cash bond. All four individuals have court dates later this month.
